Phase 1 – Restoration of the derelict Edwardian Station terminus platforms, concourse and station buildings. The project included a highway over-bridge replacement, new and refurbished structures, power upgrade and new ticket office including and supporting a security system, ticket sales equipment , station CCTV and customer information system.

This project was awarded the Conservation Award at the 2004 National Railway Heritage Awards and the Renaissance Award in the 2005 Birmingham Civic Society awards.

Phase 2 – Outline design of heritage style enhancements including replacement canopies, footbridge, lifts, lighting, CCTV and information system to the existing through lines.

Phase 3 – Feasibility study of terminus station re-instatement. The scope of work included bridge & viaduct assessments, new permanent way, additional signalling and new staff accommodation.
