The scope of the design and construct works for United Utilities involved the design, construction and commissioning of two drying plants, including thermal oil drum dryers, sludge pre-treatment equipment, handling equipment (pipe-work, conveyors & pumping systems), materials receipt and storage, and odour control and all required civil works including structural steel building.

The plant is supported by a control system with control panels, man-machine interfaces and instrumentation.

The buildings required building services including lighting and HVAC suited to an explosive environment.

Project management responsibility included the management of a multi-disciplined project team including process engineers, designers, M&E engineers, site managers and commissioning staff.
